Assam Government Announces Transformative Initiatives for State Development
Guwahati, August 01, 2024: The Assam government has announced a series of significant measures aimed at the state’s development. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed these plans during a press briefing today.
– Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan Funds: The government will disburse funds in two phases. Starting September 30, 30,000 applicants will each receive ₹2 lakh. District-wise interviews are scheduled from August 16 to September 5.
– Fair Examination Practices: District Commissioners (DCs) must ensure fair and transparent examinations for Grade III and IV jobs.
– Orunodoi 3.0 Expansion: The Orunodoi scheme will expand from September, adding 20 lakh new beneficiaries, raising the total to 47 lakh. Beneficiaries must have both an Aadhar Card and a Ration Card.
– Agricultural Procurement Boost: The government plans to enhance paddy and mustard procurement. Mustard procurement targets will rise from 11,000 MT this year to 30,000 MT next year.
– Amrit Brikshya 2.0: This initiative aims to plant 3 crore saplings across the state, with activities continuing until August 20.
– Jhumur Dance Promotion: A mass event to promote the Jhumur dance is scheduled for November 20, featuring 8,000 dancers and artists.
– End of VIP Culture: Assam will completely abolish VIP culture across the state.
– Sub-Districts as ‘Districts Equivalent’: Starting October 2, sub-districts in Assam will be treated as equivalent to districts, with operations beginning in temporary buildings.
– New Aadhar Centers: Thirteen medical colleges and hospitals in Assam will soon have new Aadhar enrollment centers.
– Khel Maharan 2.0: The next edition of Khel Maharan will launch by the end of this year.
These initiatives are expected to significantly impact Assam’s socio-economic fabric, furthering the state’s development agenda.
