Assam Govt Takes Action Against 683 Officials for Misusing Orunodoi Scheme
Assam Govt Initiates Action Against 683 Officials Over Orunodoi Scheme Misuse
Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet has taken decisive steps against 683 government employees for alleged misuse of the Orunodoi scheme. The scheme, designed to uplift poor households and empower women, faced violations during implementation.
An internal review revealed that these officials took undue benefits from the program, disregarding its guidelines. This prompted the state government to initiate departmental proceedings. Show-cause notices have also been issued to all 683 individuals.
The Orunodoi scheme aims to ensure financial support reaches the marginalized sections of society. With its focus on “Antyodaya” and “Nari Shakti,” it represents the government’s commitment to empowering women. However, the recent findings highlight the challenges in ensuring transparency.
The Assam Cabinet’s decision underscores the government’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption in welfare initiatives. Authorities are determined to maintain the integrity of the scheme and protect the rights of genuine beneficiaries.
