Assam at the Forefront of India’s Growth: Dr. S. Jaishankar Highlights Act East Policy at Advantage Assam 2.0

Guwahati; February 26, 2025: At the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit, Union Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar underscored Assam’s vital role in India’s Act East policy. He stated that this strategic initiative begins in Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s unwavering focus on North East India’s development. Highlighting the region’s significance, Dr. Jaishankar emphasized that Assam is central to India’s growth strategy and a key player in the Neighbourhood First policy, which is enhancing regional connectivity.

Dr. Jaishankar also pointed out that Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s leadership has positioned Assam as an attractive destination for global investors. He stressed the importance of advancing opportunities in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, green hydrogen, and green shipping. According to him, collaboration with neighboring countries is essential for progress, and BIMSTEC serves as a vital platform where the Act East policy aligns with the Neighbourhood First vision.

During the session titled Act East, Act Fast, and Act First, CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma reaffirmed Assam’s growing influence in India’s economic landscape. He expressed gratitude to Dr. Jaishankar for bringing an esteemed international delegation to witness Assam’s dynamic business environment firsthand.

Dr. Sarma highlighted that Assam is setting ambitious goals, aiming to be a significant contributor to India’s overall growth. He expressed confidence that the state’s ongoing transformation will be a defining milestone in its journey toward Viksit Bharat 2047, India’s long-term vision for development.

With rapid advancements in infrastructure, industry, and digital innovation, Assam is attracting global attention. The discussions at Advantage Assam 2.0 reaffirmed the state’s role in shaping India’s economic future while strengthening regional ties through the Act East policy.
