Assam CM Oversees MoU for Hemodialysis Equipment Funding
Guwahati, July 26, 2024: In a significant step towards enhancing healthcare services, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the MoU signing ceremony today involving the National Health Mission (NHM) Assam, Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), and Oil India Limited (OIL) RDS, Duliajan.
The agreement stipulates a financial contribution of ₹2.5 crores from each entity for the procurement of Hemodialysis machines. This initiative will facilitate:
1. Installation of these machines in new Dialysis Centres to meet the Hemodialysis needs of patients.
2. Expansion of the free Hemodialysis program currently operational in various state hospitals.
3. Significant reduction in out-of-pocket expenses for patients receiving treatment in private hospitals.
Chief Minister Sarma expressed his gratitude to all participating parties for their collaborative effort to strengthen the health sector in the state. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in improving healthcare accessibility and affordability for the people of Assam.
The new Dialysis Centres, equipped with advanced Hemodialysis machines, are expected to alleviate the burden on existing healthcare facilities and provide critical support to patients suffering from kidney-related ailments. The expansion of the free Hemodialysis program aims to ensure that more patients can access essential treatments without the financial strain.
