Ministers to Camp in Flood-Affected Assam Districts for Relief Assessment
Guwahati, July 04, 2024: The Assam state cabinet has taken decisive action to address the escalating flood crisis by assigning ministers to visit and stay in affected districts for three days starting July 4. This initiative aims to closely monitor the situation and provide essential support to the affected residents.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Wednesday that the state government will ensure the delivery of necessary relief measures to every flood-affected district before August 15. He stated, “The impact of the second wave of floods in Assam will decrease if there is no rainfall for the next two days. However, considering previous years’ patterns, a third wave usually occurs in July. In today’s cabinet meeting, we resolved to guarantee that all essential relief measures reach every victim in the flood-affected districts.”
To achieve this, the cabinet ministers will stay in the flood-affected districts to assess the situation firsthand. They will ensure that all necessary support reaches the affected people. Chief Minister Sarma emphasized this while addressing the media.
