Assam Police and BSF Seize Narcotics Worth ₹5.05 Crore in Coordinated Crackdown

Assam Police, BSF Tighten Grip on Drug Trade with Major Seizures
Guwahati; February 19, 2025: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Assam Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) seized narcotics worth ₹5.05 crore in separate anti-narcotics operations. The seizures took place in different districts of the state, targeting smuggling routes near the Indo-Bangladesh border.
In South Salmara Mankachar, during an area domination operation, police and BSF personnel discovered 7,200 YABA tablets and 50 grams of brown sugar. The seized contraband, valued at ₹3 crore, was hidden near the international border, indicating cross-border smuggling activities.
Meanwhile, in Cachar district, the police carried out two successful operations against drug traffickers. In one case, authorities seized 174 grams of heroin and arrested two individuals. In another, 116 grams of heroin were recovered, leading to the arrest of one more suspect. The total value of the seized heroin stands at ₹2.05 crore.
