Assam Police Seize Drugs Worth ₹11 Crore in Three Major Anti-Narcotics Operations
Guwahati: In a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, Assam Police seized illegal substances worth over ₹11 crore in three separate anti-narcotics operations. The operations were conducted by police units in Cachar and Karbi Anglong districts, marking another step in the state’s ongoing campaign against drugs.
In the first operation, Cachar Police seized 1.17 kg of suspected heroin valued at ₹5.1 crore. The seizure took place in Dighar Fulertol, following a well-planned operation based on credible intelligence.
In another case, Cachar Police recovered 73.97 kg of ganja worth ₹38 lakh from Dhanehari under Sonai Police Station. The ganja was concealed to evade detection but was uncovered during a meticulous search.
Meanwhile, Karbi Anglong Police intercepted a bus at Dillai Tiniali, which was traveling from a neighboring state. During the operation, they confiscated 1.22 kg of suspected heroin with an estimated market value of ₹6 crore. The substances were hidden inside the vehicle, showcasing the traffickers’ attempts to smuggle them discreetly.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the police for their relentless efforts against drug trafficking. Sharing his appreciation on the social media platform X, he remarked, “Good job! #AssamAgainstDrugs.”
