Assam Police Seize Drugs Worth ₹3 Crore in Two Successful Anti-Narcotics Operations
In a significant anti-narcotics crackdown, Assam Police successfully seized drugs worth ₹3 crore in two separate operations. The incidents occurred in Karbi Anglong and Nagaon districts on the same day.
In the first operation, Karbi Anglong Police intercepted a vehicle at Amarajan in Bokajan during routine checks. Upon inspection, they discovered 745 grams of heroin, neatly packed in small containers. The seized heroin is estimated to have a street value of ₹2 crore. One individual involved in the trafficking was apprehended on the spot.
Meanwhile, in a simultaneous operation, Nagaon Police carried out a raid at the Borghat bypass. Acting on intelligence inputs, the team stopped a suspicious vehicle. Inside, they found 19,296 Dicyclomine Hydrochloride capsules, valued at ₹1 crore. The capsules were concealed to avoid detection. Authorities arrested three individuals linked to the smuggling attempt.
Both operations highlight Assam Police’s commitment to curbing drug trafficking in the state. Senior officials praised the teams for their swift and effective action. Further investigations are underway to uncover the broader networks involved in these illegal activities.
