Assam Police Thwart Infiltration Attempt, Apprehend Five Bangladeshi Nationals at Indo-Bangladesh Border
Desk Report, September 2024: Assam Police personnel, maintaining a vigilant presence along the sensitive Indo-Bangladesh border, successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt in the early hours. The proactive approach of the security forces led to the apprehension and subsequent pushback of five Bangladeshi nationals attempting to cross into Indian territory illegally.
The individuals apprehended were identified as Afroja Jahirul Sardar, Tumpa Haque, Ridoy Sk, Akhi Sk, and Lakhipur Akhtar. These suspects were intercepted during a routine patrol along the border, which has seen heightened security measures in recent months due to increasing concerns over illegal crossings and smuggling activities.
The alertness of the Assam Police was instrumental in preventing these individuals from penetrating Indian soil. Following standard procedures, the detained individuals were pushed back into Bangladeshi territory, ensuring that the integrity of the international border was maintained.
