Assam Cabinet Approves Two New Private Universities, Tightens Rules for Institutions
Guwahati; March 05, 2025: The Assam Cabinet has given the green light for the establishment of two new private universities. The newly approved institutions are:
- EdTech Skills University, Assam, Tinsukia
- Maa Kamakhya National University, Assam
This decision aims to enhance educational opportunities in the state and boost higher education infrastructure.
The Cabinet also approved an amendment to the Assam Private Universities Act, 2007. This change ensures private universities follow government norms and operate within clearly defined domains.
Additionally, private universities must now secure mandatory security clearance before starting operations. This measure strengthens oversight and ensures quality education standards.
The latest policy changes reflect Assam’s commitment to regulating private higher education while expanding academic opportunities.
