Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Pledges Swift Justice After Horrific Rape of Minor in Dhing
Guwahati, August 23, 2024: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has vowed to ensure swift justice following the tragic rape of a minor girl in Dhing. He emphasized that those involved in the heinous crime will face strict consequences.
Chief Minister Sarma condemned the incident as a crime against humanity. He announced that he has instructed the Assam Director General of Police (DGP) to visit the site and take immediate action.
In response to the shocking incident, thousands of women gathered in Dhing town to demand justice for the victim. Women from various communities and organizations united in protest, calling for the immediate arrest and severe punishment of the accused.
The demonstrators, filled with outrage, insisted on swift legal action, including the hanging of those responsible. Their voices echoed the sentiments expressed by Chief Minister Sarma, who took to social media to reaffirm his commitment to justice. “The horrific incident at Dhing, involving a minor, is a crime against humanity and has struck our collective conscience. We will not spare anyone and will bring the perpetrators to justice. I have directed the DGP to ensure swift action against such monsters,” Sarma posted on ‘X’.
