Assam’s Government Schools Witness Significant Infrastructure Improvements from 2021-22 to 2022-23

Guwahati, August 30, 2024: Assam’s government schools have seen a remarkable enhancement in infrastructure over the past two academic years, as highlighted by the latest status report on basic facilities. The initiative, aimed at transforming education in the state, has significantly upgraded key amenities, ensuring a better learning environment for students.

According to the report, the percentage of schools with electrification has surged from 90.11% in 2021-22 to an impressive 99.86% in 2022-23. Similarly, the availability of drinking water has improved from 96.86% to 98.21% over the same period.

The state government has also focused on sanitation facilities, with boys’ toilets in schools rising from 93.84% in 2021-22 to 98.55% in 2022-23, while girls’ toilets have increased from 97.07% to 99.26%. These improvements play a crucial role in maintaining hygiene and ensuring the well-being of students, particularly in rural areas.

Security and accessibility have also been priorities, with boundary walls now present in 52.14% of schools, up from 49.69% in the previous year. Additionally, ramps, essential for students with disabilities, are now available in 97.37% of schools, compared to 91.08% in 2021-22.

The total number of schools benefiting from these infrastructure improvements stands at 44,188, underscoring the state government’s commitment to enhancing educational facilities across Assam. The progress achieved in just one year reflects a significant step forward in providing quality education and improving the overall school environment.

As the government continues its efforts to upgrade infrastructure, the students of Assam’s government schools can look forward to a more conducive learning environment, which will contribute to their academic growth and overall development.
