STF Operation in Guwahati and Boko Yields Fake Currency and Heroin
Guwahati: In a well-coordinated operation, Assam’s Special Task Force (STF) successfully seized counterfeit currency and narcotics in two separate raids. Acting on intelligence, the STF launched an operation in Ganeshguri, under the jurisdiction of Dispur Police Station, Guwahati. Three individuals were apprehended in this raid, and Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) worth ₹23,000 were recovered. Additionally, authorities seized 564 pieces of currency-shaped white papers, a vehicle, four mobile phones, and ₹2,120 in cash.
In a second operation linked to an ongoing investigation, the STF conducted raids in two locations under Boko Police Station in Kamrup district. During the operation, one soap box containing 11 grams of heroin and 220 vials containing 290 grams of heroin were seized. Along with the contraband, 21 empty vials, a Bolero vehicle, a mobile handset, and cash were recovered. One individual was apprehended in connection with the case.
The STF’s efforts to curb both the circulation of fake currency and narcotics trafficking continue to strengthen law enforcement in the region.
