Assam STF Seizes 533 Grams of Heroin in Amingaon, Two Arrested

Guwahati, March 12, 2025: Acting on a specific intelligence input, a team of the Special Task Force (STF), Assam, led by Additional Superintendent of Police (STF) Kalyan Kumar Pathak, successfully intercepted a vehicle at Amingaon, which was en route from Jirighat, a region along the Assam-Manipur border.

Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, the STF team discovered 41 soap boxes containing a total of 533 grams of heroin. The contraband was concealed in a manner intended to evade detection. Following the seizure, two individuals were taken into custody in connection with the illegal consignment. Additionally, the vehicle used for the transportation of the narcotics was seized.

This operation marks another significant breakthrough in Assam’s ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking networks operating across the northeastern region. Authorities have intensified surveillance and enforcement actions to curb the inflow of narcotics from neighboring states.

Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the contraband and to identify other individuals involved in the smuggling network. The arrested individuals are expected to be produced before the court, and legal proceedings will follow as per the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Assam STF continues its relentless efforts to dismantle drug syndicates and prevent the illegal trade of narcotics in the state.
