Heroin Worth ₹6 Crore Seized by Assam STF in Amingaon, Two Held
Assam STF Seizes Heroin Worth ₹6 Crore in Amingaon Operation, 2 Arrested
Guwahati: In a high-profile anti-narcotics operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police made a significant breakthrough by seizing 637 grams of heroin in the Amingaon area of Kamrup district. The contraband is estimated to be worth a staggering ₹6 crore in the international market. The operation, which took place late on Saturday night, was the result of specific intelligence indicating that narcotics were being transported from a neighboring state into Assam.
Two individuals, believed to be key players in the smuggling network, were apprehended at the scene. The STF acted quickly and effectively, intercepting the shipment before it could be distributed further. The identities of the arrested suspects are being withheld as the investigation is still ongoing, with officials working to trace the origins of the heroin and uncover more members of the drug syndicate.
The raid was meticulously planned after STF officers received credible intelligence about the movement of narcotics into Assam. With drug smuggling being a persistent problem in the region, particularly due to its proximity to states with known trafficking routes, the police have been vigilant in cracking down on the drug trade.
Following the bust, authorities are now focusing on identifying other individuals connected to the operation and expanding their reach to dismantle the larger network. The arrested suspects are currently being questioned to uncover further details about the supply chain and any accomplices involved.
