Assistant Sub-Inspector Caught Accepting Bribe in Assam’s Borhat Police Station
Desk Report, May 04, 2024: The Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam on May 03, has once again thrust itself into the limelight with its latest operation. Assistant Sub-Inspector (UB) Uttam Saikia, stationed at Borhat Police Station in Charaideo district, has become the focal point of attention following his apprehension at his rented residence in Habi Gaon, Borhat town.
Saikia’s apprehension occurred while he was caught red-handed, purportedly accepting a demanded bribe from a complainant. The exchange, allegedly made in return for favorable treatment in a pending case, has resulted in serious charges being leveled against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
This development underscores the unwavering commitment of the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam, in combating corruption and upholding the principles of integrity and accountability within the state’s law enforcement agencies.
