Assam Vigilance Team Nabs Forester Aminur Rahman Red-Handed for Taking Bribe

Forester Arrested in Assam for Demanding Monthly Bribes, Caught Red-Handed with ₹5,000
Guwahati; April 5, 2025: In a major crackdown on corruption, Assam’s Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption arrested Aminur Rahman, a Forester Grade-I, on bribery charges.
Islam served as the Forester Grade-I at the O/o Kurua Forest Range, Darrang district. He was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹5,000 earlier today.
According to reports, Islam had demanded ₹30,000 as a monthly installment. The money was allegedly sought to allow hindrance free earth carrying business in the area.
So, acting on a complaint, the Vigilance team laid a trap. When Islam accepted the ₹5,000 bribe, officials immediately arrested him on the spot.
He has been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Authorities have confirmed that a detailed investigation is now underway.
