Assam Vigilance Team Catches ACS Officer Red-Handed Taking ₹50,000 Bribe
March 05, 2025: The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam, trapped an ACS officer red-handed while accepting a bribe. Gaurav Shekhar Das, Assistant Commissioner of Bajali district, was caught in his office after taking ₹50,000 from a complainant.
According to reports, Das demanded money in exchange for allowing an earth-cutting business to operate without obstacles. Acting on a complaint, the vigilance team set a trap and arrested him immediately after he accepted the bribe.
Authorities have registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigation is underway. The Assam government continues its crackdown on corruption, ensuring strict action against offenders.
