Assam Chief Minister Launches Intensified IEC Campaign on International Youth Day
Guwahati, August 12, 2024: On the occasion of International Youth Day, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a 60-day Intensified IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) Campaign to enhance HIV awareness across 10 districts of Assam. The campaign, themed “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” aims to educate and engage the youth in building a resilient nation by addressing challenges like drug abuse and HIV.
The launch event took place at the Sri Sri Madhavadeva International Auditorium, Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati, and was inaugurated by Keshab Mahanta, Minister for Transport, Fisheries, Excise, etc.
In his address, Dr. Sarma emphasized the crucial role of youth in shaping the future of the nation, urging them to infuse society with their enthusiasm and perseverance. The campaign will run simultaneously in the districts of Dhubri, Kokrajhar, Kamrup (M), Sonitpur, Nagaon, Tinsukia, Jorhat, Karbi Anglong, Cachar, and Karimganj.
The event was organized by the Assam State AIDS Control Society (ASACS) in collaboration with the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), under the Department of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Assam. For more information, the public is encouraged to call the AIDS Helpline at 1097.
