Assistant Registrar in Assam Caught Red-Handed Taking Bribe for Society Registration
In a swift anti-corruption operation, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam, apprehended Paresh Kumar Sahu, Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Darrang district. He was caught red-handed in his office after accepting a bribe from a complainant.
The bribe was allegedly sought in connection with the registration of a society. Following a tip-off, officials from the Vigilance Directorate laid a trap and nabbed Sahu as he accepted the illegal payment.
The arrest was made under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. This incident underscores the government’s commitment to promoting transparency and holding public servants accountable. Citizens are encouraged to report similar cases to help curb unethical practices.
