Senior Assistant of Food and Civil Supplies Office Caught Accepting Bribe for License Renewal
Desk Report, April 12, 2024: In a significant development, the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption apprehended Gurupad Das, a Senior Assistant at the Office of the Superintendent of Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs in Bokajan, District: Karbi Anglong. Das was caught red-handed accepting a demanded bribe from a complainant within the premises of the office.
The incident unfolded when a concerned individual lodged a complaint alleging that Das had solicited a bribe in exchange for facilitating the renewal of a license. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the authorities set up a sting operation, resulting in Das being caught in the act.
The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption has reaffirmed its commitment to root out corruption at all levels and ensure accountability and probity in public service. Further investigations into the matter are underway, and appropriate legal action will be taken against those found guilty.
