Two Arrested as Biswanath Police Seize ₹46.4 Lakh Worth of Drugs
March 07, 2025: In a swift and strategic operation, Biswanath Police seized a massive consignment of cannabis worth ₹46.4 lakh. The operation took place at Lehugaon Bypass under Biswanath Chariali Police Station. Acting on intelligence, officers pursued and intercepted a suspicious vehicle, leading to a major drug bust.
During the search, authorities discovered 92.8 kg of cannabis hidden inside the vehicle. Two suspects were taken into custody, and legal proceedings are underway. Police officials stated that the crackdown was part of an intensified campaign against drug trafficking in Assam.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the police force for their swift action. In a post on his ‘X’ handle, he wrote, “Great work, @assampolice!” His appreciation highlights the government’s strong stance against narcotics.
Authorities have intensified surveillance across key routes to curb illegal drug transportation. Further investigations are ongoing to trace the source and network behind the seized contraband.
