BSF Intercepts Cattle Smuggling Attempt at Indo-Bangladesh Border Amidst Challenging Conditions
Dhubri, August 04, 2024: In a significant operation against trans-border crimes and smuggling, Border Security Force (BSF) troops deployed under the Guwahati Frontier successfully thwarted a smuggling attempt on the night of August 02 at the Indo-Bangladesh international border. Acting on reliable intelligence, vigilant personnel from the 49th Battalion BSF intervened in the riverine border area of Dhubri District.
The operation took place during the night hours, as the troops rescued 10 cattle that had been cruelly tied with ropes and banana trunks. The animals were left in the Brahmaputra River’s flow with the intention of smuggling them across the international border into Bangladesh. The challenging conditions of the Brahmaputra River, particularly during the rainy season, made this operation particularly hazardous.
The onset of the rainy season has significantly exacerbated the challenges faced by the BSF in countering trans-border smuggling activities. The adverse weather conditions have intensified the river’s violence, complicating vigilance and operational execution. Despite these difficulties, the BSF remains resolute in its mission to prevent smuggling and secure the border.
The successful intervention underscores the BSF’s determination and effectiveness in dominating the border area and preventing trans-border crimes. The force continues to adapt to the evolving challenges and maintains its commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders.
