Cachar Police Seize Heroin and YABA Tablets Worth ₹4.5 Crore in Anti-Drug Operations
In a decisive blow to drug trafficking, Cachar Police seized narcotics worth ₹4.5 crore in two separate operations. The anti-drug operations were conducted in Chota Manda, Lakhipur, and Jirighat areas of Assam’s Cachar district. Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the seizures.
In the first operation at Chota Manda, Lakhipur, police seized 215 grams of suspected heroin. The drugs, valued at ₹1.5 crore, were recovered after a targeted search based on intelligence inputs. One suspect was apprehended during the raid.
In the second operation, police intercepted a consignment of 10,000 YABA tablets at Jirighat. The tablets, often referred to as “party drugs,” have an estimated market value of ₹3 crore. Another individual was arrested in connection with this case.
The success of these operations reflects Assam Police’s relentless efforts to combat drug trafficking under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s leadership. Taking to his ‘X’ handle, the Chief Minister lauded Cachar Police, stating, “Excellent work by Assam Police in the fight for a #DrugsFreeAssam!”
Both suspects are currently in custody and are being interrogated. Investigations are underway to identify the larger network behind these operations. The seized narcotics have been sent for forensic analysis.
