Police Seize 10.351 kg of Suspected Ganja During Naka Checking in Cachar District
Silchar, August 20, 2024: In a significant drug bust, the Cachar district police seized 10.351 kg of suspected ganja during a routine naka checking at Hmarkhawlien point, under Lakhipur Police Station. The operation took place when a DATSUN car, bearing registration number AS 11 N 0768, was intercepted by the police team. The vehicle was reportedly coming from Jiribam.
Upon a thorough search of the car, the police discovered the narcotic substance concealed in the back storage area. The driver, identified as Moirangthem Yaiskul Meitei, a resident of Imphal East, Manipur, was immediately apprehended. The suspected ganja was seized in accordance with the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Authorities have initiated a detailed investigation to trace the origins and intended destination of the drugs. Further developments in this case are expected as the investigation progresses. The successful seizure underscores the vigilance of the Assam police in combating drug trafficking in the region.
