Desk Report, February 24, 2024: In a mesmerizing display that left Chabua skies painted in hues of red, the Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team of the Indian Air Force (IAF) showcased breathtaking manoeuvres, capturing the attention of thousands at Air Force Station Chabua last Saturday.
The awe-inspiring Air Show, a key component of IAF’s outreach program for the public, featured a scintillating exhibition of precision flying, highlighting the skills and capabilities of IAF pilots. Spectators were treated not only to the renowned SKAT display but also to a thrilling aerial showcase featuring various fighter jets, military transport, and helicopters, including flypasts by the Rafale and Sukhoi-30 MKI.
The Aerobatic Air Display by the IAF’s celebrated nine-aircraft Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team underscored professionalism and precision, the defining characteristics of the IAF. Students from nearby educational institutions flocked to Air Force Station Chabua to witness SKAT’s performance and explore modern military equipment on display.
Meanwhile, the acclaimed Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team is set to grace Air Force Station Tezpur with another air show on Tuesday. The team’s mission extends beyond mere aerobatics; it aims to showcase the professionalism and skill of the Indian Air Force while instilling a sense of patriotism among the country’s youth.

Established in 1996, SKAT stands out as one of the world’s few nine-aircraft aerobatics teams and the sole representative in Asia. Comprising volunteer pilots with extensive experience in frontline fighter aircraft, the team has a rich history of captivating audiences with numerous Air Shows across the nation and abroad.
Adding to the excitement, a variety of aircraft, including the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH), Sukhoi 30 MKI, and Rafale, will join the Air Show at Tezpur. This event promises not only to showcase extraordinary talent but also provides the public with a unique opportunity to witness the dedication and excellence of the Indian Air Force.
