Assam Chief Minister Reviews Education Sector: Focus on Schooling, Teacher Salaries, and New Legislation
Guwahati, July 08, 2024: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma convened a pivotal meeting on Sunday with officials from the Education Department, attended by Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, to address a range of critical issues affecting the sector.
The comprehensive review encompassed several focal points, including school education, outstanding teacher salaries, the proposed Assam College Employees (Provincialization) 2024 legislation, intended to replace the existing Assam College Employees (Provincialization) Act of 2010, and the development of model residential schools.
Chief Minister Sarma emphasized the importance of expediting these initiatives, instructing officials to implement all necessary measures to ensure the timely completion of their respective tasks.
