Assam CM Reviews Progress of Key Welfare Initiatives with District Commissioners

Guwahati, March, 12, 2025: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently convened a meeting with all District Commissioners (DCs) and Co-District Commissioners to evaluate the progress of several key public welfare initiatives. The primary focus was on enhancing governance and ensuring effective service delivery across the state.

Key Initiatives Reviewed:

  • Orunodoi 3.0 Rollout: This flagship scheme aims to provide financial assistance to economically disadvantaged families, ensuring their inclusion in the state’s growth narrative.
  • Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan: Designed to promote women’s entrepreneurship, this initiative seeks to empower women by providing them with the necessary resources and support to start and sustain their businesses.
  • Geo-tagging for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana: To ensure transparency and accountability, the geo-tagging process for housing schemes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana was assessed.
  • Mission Basundhara Applications: The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of timely disposal of applications under Mission Basundhara, which focuses on land-related services and dispute resolutions.
  • Farmers Registry under Agri Stack: This initiative aims to create a comprehensive database of farmers to streamline agricultural services and benefits.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Sarma underscored the critical role of Co-District Commissioners in strengthening service delivery mechanisms. He highlighted the need for their active involvement in overseeing the implementation of these schemes at the grassroots level. Additionally, preparations for the upcoming Panchayat elections were discussed to ensure smooth and fair conduct.

The Chief Minister’s engagement with the district administrative heads reflects the government’s commitment to accelerating development and ensuring that the benefits of these welfare schemes reach the intended beneficiaries promptly.
