All Assam Primary TET Passed Teachers Society Rangia block president, Hemen Dhing, and secretary Bhavesh Saloi strongly protested, stating in the media that on January 17, the State Government Education department Secretary issued guidelines and forms for the alternative selection process. According to the teachers’ union, this decision has diminished the status of service for 25,500 teachers who have been working in Sarva Shiksha for 11 years.
The union expressed staunch opposition to the new salary structure and demanded regularization with salary security. Following a four-hour sit-in, a memorandum articulating their grievances was sent to the State Education Secretary through the Rangia Block Elementary Education Officer (BEEO). The memorandum seeks redressal of their concerns and urges a reconsideration of the alternative selection process.
