Two Arrested in Dhubri for Alleged Involvement in Fake Gold Smuggling Operation
Dhubri, March 12, 2024: In a decisive move against counterfeit gold, Dhubri police successfully intercepted a smuggling operation in the Chagalchara area, adjacent to Dhubri town. The culprits, identified as Jabed Hussain from Dhubri Chagalchara and Najibur Rahman from Bihpuria in Lakhimpur District, were apprehended with a substantial haul of approximately 2.5 kilograms of fake gold.
The alert was sounded when Najibur Rahman arrived in Dhubri from Bihpuria, intending to peddle the fake gold. Dhubri police, acting swiftly, were present at the spot, thwarting the illicit operation and apprehending the two smugglers. The seized counterfeit gold was estimated to be worth a significant amount.

Following their arrest, Jabed Hussain and Najibur Rahman were promptly brought before the Chief Judicial Magistrate. Subsequently, they were remanded to Judicial custody, awaiting legal proceedings.
