Cyber Police Recover ₹7.09 Lakh in Online Investment Scam from Guwahati Victim
Guwahati: The Cyber Police Station team successfully recovered ₹7.09 lakh from a Guwahati resident who had fallen victim to a fake online investment scam. The funds were credited back to the victim’s bank account yesterday.
The victim, a resident of Ajanta Path, Survey, lost ₹9 lakh on July 23, 2024. He had been lured by a fraudulent online investment fund that promised high returns but ultimately stole his money. Upon realizing the scam, the victim reported the incident to the authorities.
Acting swiftly, the Cyber Police launched an investigation. They tracked the money and managed to recover a significant portion of it, bringing relief to the victim. However, efforts are still ongoing to recover the remaining amount.
The authorities have once again urged the public to remain cautious of online investment schemes that seem too good to be true. The rise in such frauds has prompted a stronger focus on cybercrime awareness and prevention.
