Dhubri, February 14, 2024: A raging fire erupted in Gauripur, reducing the residences of four families to ashes. The incident unfolded at the homes of Bellal Hussain, Anowar Hussain, Shoriful Islam, and Abdul Karim Shekhar in South Geramari Part VI, under the jurisdiction of Gauripur police station.
According to family members, the fire is suspected to have originated from a cooking gas mishap. Despite the efforts of the community, the fire could only be extinguished after causing extensive damage to the houses.
Firefighters faced obstacles reaching the site as the absence of proper roads hindered their access. Consequently, the inferno continued unchecked, resulting in the complete destruction of the four residences. Allegedly, fire tenders were unable to navigate the challenging terrain.

The estimated loss from the calamity amounts to a staggering Rs 20 lakh, with valuable documents reported to have been consumed by the flames. The affected families now find themselves grappling with the aftermath of the disaster.
Local authorities, represented by the Gauripur police, swiftly responded to the incident. They have already conducted an on-site assessment to gauge the extent of the damage and determine the cause of the fire.
