Devendra Fadnavis to Take Oath as Maharashtra Chief Minister for Third Term at Azad Maidan
Devendra Fadnavis is poised to be sworn in as Maharashtra’s Chief Minister for the third time tomorrow. The grand oath ceremony will take place at Mumbai’s iconic Azad Maidan, marking another milestone in his political journey.
The BJP leadership today confirmed Fadnavis as their choice for the top post, putting an end to weeks of speculation. Shortly after, his name was proposed to the newly elected legislators, who unanimously endorsed his leadership. This decision comes two weeks after the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance’s sweeping victory in the Maharashtra assembly elections.
Fadnavis, along with Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde and NCP leader Ajit Pawar, is expected to meet Governor CP Radhakrishnan later today. The trio will officially stake a claim to form the new government. Preparations are underway at Azad Maidan to host the much-anticipated oath-taking event.
During the BJP legislators’ meeting, Fadnavis expressed gratitude for being chosen as the leader of the legislature party. He credited the party’s success to the unwavering support of the BJP’s 132 MLAs. In his speech, he thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his guidance and emphasized the vision of the BJP’s “double-engine” government, promising development and progress for Maharashtra.
He also highlighted the influence of Modi’s “Ek hain to safe hain” (Together we are secure) slogan, attributing the Mahayuti alliance’s resounding victory to this inspiring message.
Fadnavis’s third term as Chief Minister is seen as a pivotal moment for Maharashtra. The state looks forward to a stable government under his leadership, aimed at accelerating development and addressing pressing issues.
