Dhubri Police Conduct Night Raid Against IPL Gambling
Dhubri, April 09, 2024: In a proactive move against illicit gambling activities related to the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Dhubri police executed a late-night operation in the Newghat area of Dhubri. The operation, undertaken based on intelligence inputs, aimed to curb the burgeoning illegal gambling network operating during the IPL season.
During the raid, a youth identified as Abdul Kalam, residing in the Newghat locality, was apprehended by the police. Subsequent search operations conducted at Kalam’s residence led to the seizure of significant evidence, including a sum of Rs 1,67,400 in cash, a laptop, and a mobile phone.
Abdul Kalam, now in police custody, is undergoing interrogation at the Dhubri Sadar police station to glean further insights into the illegal gambling network and its operatives. The authorities remain committed to upholding the law and ensuring that such nefarious activities are swiftly dealt with to maintain public order and integrity in the region.
