Massive Drug Bust in Golaghat: Rs 15 Crore Worth of Heroin Seized
Guwahati, July 14, 2024: In the early hours of today, acting on a tip-off regarding the stockpiling of a significant quantity of contraband, a team from the Special Task Force (STF) conducted a successful search operation in Rajapukhuri, under the jurisdiction of Uriamghat Police Station in Golaghat District.
Led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (STF) Satendra Singh Hazari, APS, the team executed a meticulous operation that resulted in the apprehension of two notorious drug peddlers and the seizure of a substantial quantity of heroin. Authorities have confirmed the seizure of 141 soap boxes containing heroin, weighing a total of 1.732 kilograms. The estimated street value of the seized contraband is around Rs 15 crore.
The two individuals arrested in connection with the operation have been identified as Md Shohidul Islam and Oliullah Hussain. The arrests and seizure mark a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to curb the drug menace in the region.
Further investigations are underway to uncover the broader network involved in this illicit trade. The STF’s decisive action serves as a stern warning to those engaged in drug trafficking, underscoring the authorities’ commitment to eradicating the drug problem from its roots.
