Strategic Operation Leads to Major Drug Bust at Assam-Nagaland Border
Guwahati, July 23, 2024: In a decisive move against inter-state drug trafficking, Golaghat Police carried out a successful operation at the Assam-Nagaland border. Acting on a crucial tip-off, a special team set up a Naka at Naojan CDH point. This team was led by the ASP (Crime), SDPO Dhansiri, and OC Chungajan, supported by Sarupathar PS staff and C Coy 155 BN CRPF.
At around 12 PM yesterday, a vehicle bearing registration number AS 23 N 7587 was stopped. During a thorough inspection, officers found a hidden compartment under the vehicle’s footstep. This concealed space contained 60 packets of soap cases filled with heroin, weighing 711.93 grams. The heroin is estimated to be worth crores.
Three individuals were arrested during the operation. The apprehended suspects are Rajkumar Chetry (35) and Debraj Chetry (38), both from 1 No. Makum Pathar, Tinsukia, and Nagen Bora (35) from Changkhati, Kalyanpur, Golaghat.
Authorities continue to investigate, aiming to uncover further links and prevent drug trafficking in the region.
