Cachar Police Arrest Two with Fake Currency Worth ₹90,500 at Sunabarighat Bypass
Acting on a specific tip-off, Cachar Police conducted a swift operation at the Sunabarighat Bypass in Assam. During the operation, officers apprehended two individuals suspected of carrying counterfeit currency. The accused were identified as Md. Akbor Ali Majumdar from Krishnapur, Kachudharam, and Md. Maidul Islam Laskar from Lakhinagar, both residents of Cachar district.
Upon searching the suspects, the police found 181 fake ₹500 currency notes, amounting to a total of ₹90,500. The confiscation marked a significant step in curbing the circulation of counterfeit money in the region.
Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to trace the origin of the fake currency. They are also looking into whether the suspects are linked to a larger counterfeit money network operating in the area.
