Central Hilal Committee of Assam Fixes Fitrah Amount for Ramadan Fasting
Desk Report, March 19, 2024: The Central Hilal Committee of Assam, in a recent statement issued by President Maulana Sheikh Fakhruddin Ahmed Kasimi and General Secretary Alhaj Imdad Hussain, has fixed the Fitrah amount for Ramadan fasting this year at 1,633 grams of wheat flour, valued at 65.00 rupees.
Muslim residents are urged by the committee to contribute this amount before the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers. Fitrah serves the purpose of aiding those who fasted in compensating for any shortcomings during the fasting month, thus purifying their Ramadan fast.

The holy month of Ramadan commences with the first sighting of the crescent Moon on the evening of Sunday, March 10, 2024. The exact start and end times of Ramadan hinge on the sighting of the first crescent Moon on the last night of the eighth month (Sha’ban).
Ramadan’s commencement is contingent upon the initial observation of the crescent Moon over Mecca, Saudi Arabia, or according to a date predetermined by astronomical calculation. Consequently, start and end dates may vary by a day.
