Four Smugglers Arrested and Smuggled Cattle Recovered by Chagolia Police on Assam-Bengal Border
Dhubri, July 17, 2024: In a significant crackdown on cattle smuggling, the Chagolia Police on the Assam-Bengal border in Dhubri district intercepted an Ultra truck loaded with smuggled cattle. The police seized the vehicle and arrested four individuals involved in the illicit operation.
Acting on a tip-off, Chagolia Police intercepted an Ultra truck bearing registration number AS 28 AC 0508. The truck, originating from Bihar, was found to be carrying 46 smuggled cattle and was en route to Barpeta via Chagolia. The swift action of the police led to the recovery of all 46 cattle.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Shohidul Islam, Akhtar Hussain, and Samad Ali, all hailing from Barpeta, and Mozzamel Hussain from Nalbari. The four detainees, including the driver, are currently in police custody and are expected to face charges related to cattle smuggling.
This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Chagolia Police to curb illegal cattle trade in the region. The authorities have reiterated their commitment to stringent enforcement against smuggling activities, aiming to protect the local economy and maintain law and order.
