Free Health Camp and Medical Consultation Enhances Well-being of Senior Citizens at Guwahati’s Old Age Home
Guwahati, April 08, 2024: In a commendable initiative aimed at enhancing the well-being of senior citizens, a free health camp and medical consultation were recently conducted at the Senior Citizen’s Old Age Home in Guwahati. The event was organized by ‘Sampoorna’, an initiative of the Deepjyoti India Foundation based in Mumbai, which focuses on women’s empowerment and children’s welfare.
The health camp commenced with an insightful speech by Dr. Amal Chandra Kataki, the former Director of the prestigious Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute. Dr. Kataki was supported by Dr. Ardhendu Sen, Former Professor of Medicine at JMCH, and Dr. Nirmal Beria, Retired Joint Director of Health Services from Mangoldoi, Assam.
The dedicated team of healthcare professionals for the day included Dr. Kaushik Jagannath Kataki, Dr. Abhijit Sharma, and Mr. Rituraj Boruah. Led by Amrita Borkotoky and Anubhuti Bhattacharya from Sampoorna, the team collaborated with a group of healthcare experts from Wintrobe Hospital, Guwahati, and Redcliffe Labs to provide a comprehensive range of free medical consultations and screenings.

The health screenings encompassed vital signs measurements, blood pressure checks, and blood sugar tests. Following these initial screenings, personalized consultations were provided to the elderly residents by the attending doctors, social workers, nurses, and volunteers. Free medicines were distributed to the residents as per their medical requirements.
In addition to the medical consultations, a rejuvenating yoga session was organized for the senior citizens. This session was aimed at emphasizing the importance of movement and preventative care in maintaining the overall health and well-being of the residents of the old age home.
The event was a significant step towards promoting health awareness and providing necessary medical care to the elderly population. The collaboration between ‘Sampoorna’, Wintrobe Hospital, and Redcliffe Labs exemplifies the positive impact that can be achieved through community engagement and collective efforts in the healthcare sector.
