Gauripur Police Seize Smuggled Cattle in Raid; Suspects Evade Capture
Dhubri, June 7, 2024: In a decisive operation against cattle smuggling, the Gauripur police successfully seized twelve cattle, despite the smugglers evading capture. The operation unfolded on National Highway 17, when authorities attempted to stop a speeding vehicle approaching Gauripur from West Bengal.
Defying police orders, the driver and an accomplice fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle in Astamichar village. Upon investigation, Police officials discovered twelve cattle concealed beneath a load of potatoes in a Tata Ultra van, bearing the registration number AS 17 C 6310.
The seized cattle were subsequently transported to the Gauripur police station, where an investigation has been launched to gather further information and apprehend the culprits involved in the smuggling operation.
This raid underscores the ongoing efforts by the Gauripur police to combat illegal cattle smuggling in the region.
