YouTuber Altaf Hussain Arrested by Gauripur Police for Controversial Song
Dhubri, August 31, 2024: Altaf Hussain, a YouTuber and controversial singer, was arrested by Gauripur police after performing and sharing songs that have sparked controversy across state. Hussain, known for his Miya songs—musical pieces sung in the dialect of Bengali-speaking Muslims in the region—was taken into custody on charges of inciting communal unrest and disrupting the fragile social fabric of the area.
The arrest followed a recent performance by Hussain that created a tense atmosphere, with widespread criticism of the song as provocative and divisive. The song, which was widely circulated on social media, evoked strong reactions from various sections of society, further intensifying the already sensitive situation in Assam.
Police launched a search operation to apprehend Hussain, who had been evading arrest since the controversy erupted. Today, Gauripur police successfully located and detained him, ending his attempts to avoid capture. The police have warned that any attempt to disrupt peace and harmony in the state will be met with strict legal action.
