Emli Sultana, Agomani, February 13, 2024: In a significant operation, Golakganj Police successfully thwarted a smuggling attempt, leading to the arrest of two individuals with gold valued at Rs 1.5 crore. The operation, led by Officer-in-Charge Debojit Kalita, unfolded when a police team intercepted an E-rickshaw traveling from Naliya near the Indo-Bangladesh border towards Golakganj.
The team, strategically positioned at the newly constructed bridge in Golakganj, conducted a thorough raid. During the operation, 20 gold biscuits were seized from Sonaullah Sikdar, who was found in the E-rickshaw. The estimated value of the seized gold is around Rs 1.5 crore.

Remarkably, the detained gold is traced back to a Bangladeshi individual named Johirul. Sikdar, a resident of Bhogdanga FaxharKuti under Golakganj Police Station, and Taijul Ali from Naliya, situated on the Indo-Bangladesh border, were apprehended before handing over the gold to a contact in Golakganj.
The swift and precise action by Golakganj Police highlights their commitment to curbing illegal activities, securing the community from potential threats. The arrested individuals are now in custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
