Guwahati Police Recover ₹10 Lakh from Cyber Fraud, Return Money to Victim
Guwahati, July 31, 2024: In a significant breakthrough, the Cyber Police Station of Guwahati Police has successfully recovered ₹10,00,000 from a recent case of cyber fraud. The recovered amount has been credited back to the victim’s account.
The victim had fallen prey to an online fake investment scam, resulting in the transfer of more than ₹26 lakhs to accounts operated by the fraudsters. Acting swiftly, the Cyber Police Station intervened, managing to recover a portion of the defrauded money.
In addition to the ₹10 lakh already credited back, the Cyber Police Station has put another ₹5,89,001 on hold. This amount is expected to be credited back to the victim’s bank account shortly.
The Cyber Police Station’s prompt action highlights the increasing importance of cyber vigilance and the effectiveness of dedicated cyber crime units in combating online fraud.
