Guwahati Police Arrest 6 for Posting Cow Slaughter Video on Instagram
Guwahati City Police, with the support of Kamrup Police, arrested six individuals for uploading an offensive video depicting cow slaughter on Instagram. The incident caused widespread outrage, prompting swift police action.
The accused include Sahil Khan (20), Hafizur Islam (19), Rokibul Husain (20), Sahidul Islam (30), Izaz Khan (26), and Jahidul Islam (24). All are residents of Asalpara village, Bithonduwa, under Chaygaon Police Station in Kamrup district.
The arrests followed a complaint lodged at Hatigaon Police Station. A case was registered under Section 13(1) of the Assam Cattle Preservation Act, 2021, and Sections 299/196(1) of the BNS.
The police investigation revealed that the video, shared widely on social media, violated state laws aimed at protecting cattle. Authorities acted decisively to uphold legal and social norms.
