Guwahati Police Bust Illegal Betting Racket, Arrest Five, Seize Cash and Assets
Guwahati; February 20, 2025: Acting on intelligence inputs, a team from Basistha Police Station raided a flat in Lalmati Comfort Apartment, Jagaran Path, Guwahati. The operation led to the busting of an illegal betting and gambling racket.
Police arrested five individuals linked to the operation. The accused were identified as Jakir Khan (27), Amin Rezaul Korim (23), Saiful Islam (25), Mizanur Rahman (24), and Rafizul Rahaman (24).
During the raid, authorities seized 14 ATM cards from various banks, 10 high-end mobile phones connected to betting applications, and two vehicles—a Hyundai i20 Sport and a Pulsar RS200. Additionally, police recovered ICICI Bank cheque books and other incriminating materials from the scene.
Officials stated that further investigation is underway to trace the network’s operations and identify other individuals involved.
