Two Men Caught Smuggling Cattle in Guwahati; Police Seize Pickup Truck
Guwahati: A vigilant East Guwahati Police District team successfully intercepted a cattle smuggling attempt at the Jorabat crossing near Guwahati. Acting on precise intelligence, officers from the Jorabat Outpost under Dispur Police Station stopped a pickup truck, bearing registration number AS 25 FC 5667.
The vehicle was found transporting eight live cattle, suspected to be illegally smuggled into Meghalaya. During the operation, the police apprehended two individuals linked to the crime. The accused were identified as Abdul Munaf from Mukalmua and Harmus Ali from Tarabari.
The operation unfolded swiftly as the truck was intercepted before crossing into Meghalaya. Police suspect that the cattle were being smuggled for illicit trade purposes. Investigations are underway to determine if a larger network is involved.
The East Guwahati Police District has intensified monitoring at key border points to curb illegal activities, including cattle smuggling. Their proactive efforts aim to ensure such crimes are promptly intercepted.
