Guwahati Police Intercepts Cattle Smuggling Operation at Jorabat Crossing
Guwahati, August 03, 2024: In a significant crackdown on cattle smuggling, the East Guwahati Police District team from Jorabat Out Post, under Basistha Police Station of Guwahati Police, intercepted a truck at the Jorabat Crossing yesterday. The vehicle, bearing registration number AS 01 RC 2844, was found to be transporting 26 live cattle illegally towards Meghalaya.
The operation resulted in the arrest of Fakir Ali, 36, a resident of Dhula. Ali is now in police custody and is being questioned regarding his involvement in the smuggling attempt.
Further investigations are underway to identify other individuals and networks involved in this smuggling operation. Authorities have assured the public that strict actions will be taken against those found guilty of such illegal activities.
