Guwahati Police Nab Drug Peddlers, Seize 176 Grams of Suspected Heroin in Islampur
Guwahati: In a swift anti-narcotics operation, an East Guwahati Police District team from Dispur Police Station apprehended two individuals allegedly involved in drug trafficking. Acting on a specific intelligence tip, officers intercepted and arrested Saddam Hussain, 26, from Fakirganj, and Md. Kamrul Jamal, 52, from Fakirgram. The arrests took place in the Islampur area, where authorities found 176.08 grams of suspected heroin in their possession.
According to police sources, the suspects had been under surveillance following reports linking them to local drug networks. The seized heroin, intended for distribution in nearby communities, underscores the growing concern about illicit narcotics trafficking in the region.
The apprehension of Hussain and Jamal highlights the ongoing efforts by Guwahati police to curb drug-related crimes. Authorities emphasized that such operations will continue, targeting individuals and networks involved in the narcotics trade.
