Guwahati Police Foil Cattle Smuggling Attempt; One Arrested at Jorabat Crossing
Guwahati, July 29, 2024: In the early hours of today morning, a team from the Jorabat Out Post of Basistha Police Station successfully intercepted a truck at Jorabat Crossing. The vehicle, bearing registration number AS 01 RC 3692, was found to be carrying 31 live cattle destined for illegal transport into Meghalaya.
The operation led to the arrest of Ashraful Alam, aged 24, who was allegedly involved in the smuggling attempt. The authorities promptly initiated legal action against Alam, underscoring their commitment to combating such illicit activities in the region.
This interception is part of a broader effort by Guwahati Police to address and prevent illegal smuggling operations.
